Teenage Pants Crapping

A couple of thoughts…

  • This may be the luckiest kid in the world.
  • I vaguely remember watching The Price Is Right a very long time ago when Bob Barker had some color in his hair and wasn’t a rabid anti-fur activist.
  • Drew Carey is much better doing sarcastic sit-com than game shows.
  • The kid (or more likely, his parents) is going to be a little torqued when the tax bill for more than $22,000 shows up. This assumes that the kid actually one the stuff and didn’t get some lesser valued, cheesy lease thing. There will still be a bunch of taxes, just not quite as much.

What Could Go Wrong?

Oversize green baseball mascot, golf cart, air cannon, hot dogs an an effective range of 200-300 feet… What could go wrong? Not that much… unless you happened to rifle the barrel… Just sayin’…

I Iz Scared

A neighbor that I share about a half dozen fence pickets with has one of these Great Dane dogs. I think it is called a Harlequin, but I call it a small horse. Anyway, those fence pickets have been rotted and gone for almost a year. I gotta tell ya, it scares the crap outta me when I’m in my backyard and this thing’s head pokes through and it starts barking at me to come play. So when hurricane Ike hit just awhile back, I went over and and knocked on the guy’s door. I introduced myself and offered to help him repair the fence and even help out with the cost of materials. He told me not to bother since he was having the whole fence replaced in a week or so. Well that week has come and gone and the dog is still scaring the bejeepers out of me. So last week I went and knocked on the door. No answer. So I left a half dozen brand new fence pickets on his front porch, right in front of the door. Cars have come and gone, the dog barks, the neighbor sits in front of his house and smokes his cigarette and drinks his beer… and the fence pickets are still on the porch. I really would just fix the thing myself, but he has the “good side” of the fence and I am NOT getting in that yard with the dog!

Now What?

Few things are satisfying in College football for most folks. Only one “school” gets to claim national championship bragging rights and football and getting to that level is a maze of formulas, systems, polls, standings, voo doo, and bowl appearances for decidedly mediocre team. Hell, Vanderbilt is bowl eligible and they just lost to Tennessee! Let’s assume that three of the top 5 (Texas Tech, Texas and Oklahoma) win the rest of their games, which is fairly likely. How on Earth do you figure out which is the better team for BCS purposes? It might mean a difference in bowl “stature” and money. Texas Tech was the undefeated juggernaut. Until last night when Oklahoma opened up a can of whoopass on ’em. So Oklahoma should be better than Texas Tech right now, right? Better than Texas? Texas beat Oklahoma. But Texas lost to Texas Tech. Ouch, my head hurts. Right now, Alabama is undefeated. But they play #5 Florida at the beginning of December and that could leave a whole slew of one loss teams from “big schools” wondering “now what?”…

Despite all this mental masturbation, there is an extremely satisfying event that occurred. Notre Dame lost to Syracuse. Even Notre Dame fans think their football team sucks.
