Even though I am from Texas, for a long time I never had a problem with folks saying that the SEC was a better college football conference than the Big 12. It just ain’t so anymore. The SEC has exactly one undefeated team (Alabama) in their conference. The Big 12 has three (Texas, Texas Tech, and Oklahoma State). The SEC has four teams with losing records (Mississippi, Arkansas, Mississippi State, and Tennessee) while the Big 12 has three (Iowa State, Texas A&M, and Baylor). When the new rankings come out, the Big 12 will likely have four of the top ten spots, including number one Texas. The SEC will likely have three. That these two conferences are the cream of the crop is not in dispute. That the Big 12 is just a bit better is now a fact.
