Che Was a Pussy

It’s been 40 years since the violent Cuban patriot died. Yes, I called him a patriot. Anyone who stands up for what he believes in and actually takes up arms to defend his people against an oppressive regime is, by definition, a patriot. Sure, he just substituted one brand of detritus for another, but he was a patriot. What I don’t understand is how the Maoist-Leninist slaughtering machine has become a symbol for anti-globalization and the t-shirt love of stupid children and misguided fools the world over. Americans had a hissy fit when Wal*Mart was selling t-shirts that had the Nazi 3rd SS Division insignia. I dare say that the SS pretty much represents evil humanity. So does Che. Yet we’ve got kids running around dressed like him, espousing his efforts, and glorifying his image. WTF?

It is fairly well documented that other than his talent for murdering blindfolded and helpless political prisoners, little Ernie G was a irredeemable fuck-up at pretty much everything else. While he held himself out as a doctor, no records exist of his ever being qualified, his stint as Cuban minister of economics results in the Cuban currency becoming worthless, and his only publication of note “Guerilla Warfare” belies the fact that the little bugger had his ass handed to him in every guerilla campaign in which he was involved. His crowning achievement in life was (and is) that his face adorns the t-shirts of clueless college sophomores who probably received the shirt free with a DVD of “An Inconvenient Truth.” WTF indeed.
