Expensive Trash

It kinda looks like something one of my kids might have done in first grade. And I probably would have been inclined to sneak it into the trash after a ceremonial month of display on the fridge. This particular item was found in the trash recently on Manhattan’s Upper West Side. It is expected to fetch upwards of $1,000,000 at an upcoming Sotheby’s auction. It’s a 1970 painting by Rufino Tamayo, stolen in Houston in 1987, found in the trash 20 years later. The finder will receive $15,000 (the original reward posted by the Houston owners) plus a percentage of the sale.
