NFA Confusion

As many of you know from reading this blog and knowing me, I’m something of a gun enthusiast. I also have an affinity for NFA weapons. These are things like machineguns and suppressors (aka silencers). And before you scream “those are illegal!” please take a deep breath. While there are some states in the US that restrict ownership of these items, there are many more that follow the federal guidelines. As long as one is willing to go through the paperwork and pay the tax (you knew there would be tax, right?) one can own these things. That said, the rules that surround NFA items are always convoluted and frequently debated by experts and non-experts, alike. With the excellent support of the National Firearms Act Trade & Collectors Association (NFATCA), the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco Firearms and Explosives has recently published a handbook. This handbook is available for immediate download and will be regularly updated to reflect evolution of ATF practices and procedures. Click the image above to be able to download a copy.
