It’s been 40 years since the violent Cuban patriot died. Yes, I called him a patriot. Anyone who stands up for what he believes in and actually takes up arms to defend his people against an oppressive regime is, by definition, a patriot. Sure, he just substituted one brand of detritus for another, but he was a patriot. What I don’t understand is how the Maoist-Leninist slaughtering machine has become a symbol for anti-globalization and the t-shirt love of stupid children and misguided fools the world over. Americans had a hissy fit when Wal*Mart was selling t-shirts that had the Nazi 3rd SS Division insignia. I dare say that the SS pretty much represents evil humanity. So does Che. Yet we’ve got kids running around dressed like him, espousing his efforts, and glorifying his image. WTF?
