The annual cleaning of the larder has begun. This is the family ritual that involves emptying the pantry and fridge, discarding inedible, out of date, or no longer wanted items, reorganizing and re-storing. It also involves discovering what kind of stupid mistakes that we have made over the year. So… anyone have a recipe that calls for 3 boxes of corn starch and 2 half gallon jugs of dried minced onion?

Passing Quietly

Marcel Marceau, possibly the world’s best known mime, died on Saturday. He was 84. Marceau performed tirelessly around the world until late in life, never losing his agility, never going out of style. In one of his most poignant and philosophical acts, “Youth, Maturity, Old Age, Death,” he wordlessly showed the passing of an entire life in just minutes. “Do not the most moving moments of our lives find us without words?” he once said.
