How Far To Fall?

The problem with a college football team scheduling patsies at the beginning of their season is that sometimes the patsies can play. The University of Michigan Wolverines were annointed with a number 5 ranking in pre-season polls; serious contenders for a BCS game at the end of the season. But along came the Appalachian St. Mountaineers from the also-ran Southern Conference. The Mountaineers play teams like Furman, Citadel, and Elon. Not exactly schools known for powerhouse football. 110,000 screaming fans at the Big House of Michigan had to shut their mouths as their beloved contenders lost to the Mountaineers. So how far out of the standings does Michigan get to fall? Right now, all but one of the top 25 teams have played. Of those 24, #15 Tennessee lost to #12 California and #5 Michigan got spanked by an unranked team. #19 Florida State plays Clemson on Monday, so it looks like the rest of the ranked teams will be winners. I say, make ‘em UNranked!
