The celebration of my 20th anniversary was put on hold for a few other pressing items (kids swim team, doctor visit, blah, blah, blah). We exchanged bands on the actual date, but our traditional night out was put on hold. Tonight, we are rectifying the situation and going to a tapas restaurant here in the Houston area by the name of Rioja. We’re taking the kids, too, because they’re adventurous eaters and after 20 years, having them along is not an issue. Next year, wifey and I will be able to get our swerve on and have the oldest drive us home! Anyway, we’ve been drooling over the menu and here’s what we’ve got planned…
Esparragos Blancos envueltos con Jamon Serrano
White asparagus from Navarra rolled in Serrano Ham drizzled with rosemary infused XV Olive Oil
Pate de Salmon
Smoked Salmon, green peppercorn and Brandy pate
Pulpo a la Rioja
Sauteed octopus with garlic, smoked paprika, albarino wine, and garlic potatoes
Morcilla Frita con pure de pera confitada
Fried black Spanish sausage with a sweet pear puree
Espinacas a la Catalana
Spinach sautéed with pine nuts, roasted garlic, raisins and topped with Manchego Cheese
Paella Mixta
Best Paella in Houston 2004 & 2005 1st Place Houston International Paella Festival Prawns, Shrimp, Mussels, Calamari, chicken and home-made chorizo
I suspect that we will all be very fat and happy afterwards!
